The final book in the trilogy on police and social history covering the seventy year period from 1936 to 2006.
"I WAS SIR, YOUR FUZZY OBEDIENT SERVANT" by Gordon D. S. Maddock.
This book completes the trilogy by this author of books concerning policing and social history from 1936 until the end of the last century Previous works, FUZZY MEMORIES and FUZZY MOONRAKER MEMORIES have recorded 'living history' of life as a police oficer of all ranks in the old Cornwall Constabulary and the Wiltshire Constabulary.
This latest book commences with the author's childhood memories of Plymouth during the Blitz of WW2 leading to recollections of his education in two north Devon towns, followed by National Service experiences both in the UK and overseas in the RAF. The fascinating anecdotal tales are illustrated as before by the author's own sketches, cartoons and photographs Also included are memories of policing in London, Surrey and the return to Devon and Cornwall in a senior management position. All make interesting reading for police officers and general public alike.
The book concludes with examples of his law enforcement experiences overseas in the USA, Spain and South Africa.
Like his first two books, there are humourous accounts of policing in rapidly changing times of the latter part of the 20th Century. The social history of the time is also captured in an interesting and readable manner.
Read with his first two books, this volume completes the entire spectrum of the author's life from birth to retirement, having served 31 years as a police officer in the UK and later as an International security Consultant before finally retiring to Spain to become an artist and author.

With an introduction by Lord Condon, the first book in the series is a humorous, anecdotal and historical daily account of police work in the Cornwall Constabulary in the 50s and 60s.
It is illustrated with Gordon's own original sketches, cartoons and photographs, all the work of the author whilst a Police Constable and Detective Constable at Falmouth and Helston.
It recounts the details of interesting cases and experiences in that period dealt with by the author and fellow members of the Cornwall Constabulary.
The book gives an accurate and nostalgic flavour of daily life and customs of the West Country in the decades of the fifties and sixties. How things have changed since then! Policing was carried out with limited communications - no mobile phones, only a whistle to attract attention!
Fuzzy Monraker Memories by Gordon D S Maddock
ISBN 0-9549341-1-3,
£9.99 + £1 P&P
Published in 2006, this second book in the series is a humorous, anecdotal book recording the author's eighteen years in the oldest constabulary in the United Kingdom and illustrated by the author.
A policeman's lot in a shire county constabulary, recalled with factual and historical references, makes this book interesting social history reading for all.
The devotion of the Wiltshire Constabulary in the latter part of the last century as described in this book and the respect it commanded from the general public makes one wonder why such County Forces should be considered for amalgamation.
You can't put the clock back but you can experience policing in those days through the author's own personal and anecdotal experiences.
