Dream-A-Way / Express & Echo "We Care" Holly Ball

Friday November 28th 2008 saw nearly 300 people attend a
Holly Ball in support of Dream-A-Way and the Express & Echo's We Care campaign.

The event was Dream-A-Way's 4th Ball at Sandy Park, and for the first time, Dream-A-Way teamed up with the Express & Echo's "We Care" campaign to raise vital funds for both groups.

The evening began with complimentary drinks for all guests, and entertainment by the "Mr & Mrs Christmas" Living Statues before being piped into the dining hall by Will Malcolm, where guests enjoyed a three course meal prepared by Posh Nosh.

Mr and Mrs Christmas Piper
Mr & Mrs Christmas provided a warm (and surprising) welcome. Piper Will Malcolm led the guests in.

Bingo Calling

After dinner a round of Irish Bingo was called by Dream-A-Way Chairman Jeff Merrett and Vice Chairman Bob Beer.

Gills Freeman is presented with her Hamper by Kate Agraolaya

Through an onslaught of jesting cries of "FIX!" The eventual winner of the Foodeaze Hamper was Dream-A-Way's very own Events Co-ordinator, Gill Freeman!

Claude the Comedy Waiter

Claude, the Comedy Waiter was on hand once again to entertain the guests with his very own style of table service.
There really is nothing better than the look on an unsuspecting diner's face as he buffs their head, or wanders off just as they are about to order from him!

Magician Anthony Laye was also on hand to entertain throughout the night. Anthony has supported Dream-A-Way at our previous Balls, but unfortunately for us is leaving shortly for pastures new. We wish Anthony the best of luck in all his endeavours in Australia.

After dinner, guests enjoyed a fabulous auction including Money-Can't-Buy lots, and  running alongside the main auction was the ever popular silent auction. Over 20 lots were generously donated, ranging from a signed Girls Aloud photograph to a hand-made Christmas Cake, to an autographed Exeter City football, to an LCD Television. There really was something for everyone!
